The Courage to Ask: Stuti’s Hope of Creating Impact

“I want to work at an organisation that has its morals in place,” says Stuti. Her clarity comes from experience. While studying Food Science & Technology in her undergraduation, Stuti encountered an outdated and unexciting mode of education. TShe began exploring other extracurricular activities, which led her to public policy.

“I worked at student-led think tanks and eventually did the Pratham-Ti fellowship, in the office of MP Priyanka Chaturvedi. There, I was trained in policy issues from the ground up. I also worked at a leading think tank — Observer Research Foundation (ORF) — where I picked up

managerial skills.” So what made her pursue postgraduate studies in management and not public policy or development studies?

“To understand the world, you need a multidisciplinary approach. Vedica wasn’t just another b-school. It focused on challenging biases. A career in public policy needs that. But it also needs a sound understanding of finance, sociology, brand positioning and statistics.”

In the Vedica classroom, Stuti found encouragement to ask as many questions as possible. And through questioning, her worldview started expanding. “In Urvashi Butalia’s classes, I got a multifaceted understanding of feminism. I also learnt that the study of history is distorted - women’s contributions are often attributed to men. Because of her, I started digging deeper into the achievements of women.”

Now, Stuti feels more equipped to deal with policy issues. “People often blame the government for not doing enough. But they rarely acknowledge how hard it is to break biases and social norms. For example, the government is keen to push women towards financial inclusion. But women are not even allowed to own mobile phones. So how do you even make banking services more accessible?”

With strengthened interest in creating social impact, Stuti will now work with Mynzo Carbon and help enhance data-driven climate strategies. “I’ve always wanted to solve the pressing challenges of climate change. I want a better future for all of us.”
